Plumstead High Street

We were commissioned to lead the community engagement to shape a set of improvements along Plumstead High Street and to co-design artwork for a Network Rail Bridge along a new public route to the high street. From stakeholder workshops, pop ups on the high street, tagging on to existing events, secondary school workshops and public exhibitions in the library and at Plumstead Makemerry we worked across a range of approaches to gain the broadest range of input. We tailored some specific approaches based on the location including a resident planting and transformation day for a green space outside a housing estate on the high street and photography workshops with a local secondary school to photograph independent shop keepers and prompt the involvement of traders in the engagement programme. The bridge artwork was co-designed with local A level students and took inspiration from a disused power station near the high street.
